A natural alternative to drugs
The world has seen a lot of struggles surrounding drugs. But what if you can "get high" in a more natural way? That is what the project "Party Drug" is all about. Taking one of the senses, smell, and creating a mask designed to make partying more fun, without the bad chemicals.
With the help of a heartbeat monitor, a little bit of Arduino and a few natural oils, hidden inside a little bag that will hang on the users hips, this mask will do the job just right. When the heartbeat monitor registers that your heartbeat is to low (specific numbers depend on the user) it will give you a boost of peppermint and citrus oil. A pump hidden in the bag will pump the smell of the natural oils up into the mask and the user will instantly smell it and wake up again. When their heart rate is normal again, the pump will stop.
And as a bonus, when the users is really hyped and their heartbeat is really high, a light will go on inside the mask. This will give it little extra hype. And when everybody's lights are on, it will give a feeling of togetherness.
For this project the understanding of a little more advanced Arduino is needed. Applying a heartbeat monitor to the project made it a lot more personal for the user, but also very difficult. My coding skills have improved a lot because of this project. There is also a great amount of thought put into the way the mask looks. Made out of two plastic cast glued onto each other, one black and one red. The red cast is transparent, which allows it to let through light. The LED installed underneath the red layer adds another dimension to the mask.
